CARROLL COUNTY, Ind. – Daniel Nations, a person of interest in the Delphi murders of Abby and Libby, faces new charges of assault and trespassing in Colorado.

Nations was arrested September 25 in Colorado Springs after police matched his vehicle and description to a man who had been threatening hikers with a hatchet on the same trail where a man was shot and killed two weeks earlier.

During a court appearance for child custody, when asked if he was involved with the Delphi murders, Nations shook his head.

Nations is a convicted sex offender with numerous charges out of multiple Indiana counties. He was arrested in Morgan County, Indiana 10 days after Libby and Abby were murdered.

Previously, Nations already faced other charges in El Paso County, Colorado for possession of a weapon by a previous offender, felony menacing and reckless endangerment.

Police have received more than 24,000 tips in the Delphi case.

Indiana State Police released a picture of a suspect, which was taken by Liberty on her cell phone.

She also captured a man's voice saying "down the hill" during what police call "criminal activity." You can listen to that recording and see the photo below.
