CARROLL COUNTY, Ind. -- A local attorney has been named the next prosecutor of Carroll County.

The Republican Party Caucus elected Nicholas McLeland to succeed Robert Ives when he steps down at the end of the year.

GOP Secretary Neda Duff said McLeland was elected to the position by majority vote and will officially take office on January 1.

Current Carroll County Prosecutor, Robert Ives, announced last month that he would be stepping down at the end of the year. His last day will be December 31.

Ives' decision to step down came while two of the most high-profile cases ever to hit Carroll County remain unsolved: The deaths of four young girls in an intentionally set fire in Flora, and the murders of Libby German and Abby Williams in Delphi.

Ives' resignation was not the only one to shake up Carroll County in recent months. The Flora Fire Chief resigned earlier this year and the state fire investigator working the November 2016 fire also retired.

Anyone with information in the death of the Flora girls is asked to contact the Indiana State Arson Hotline at 1-800-382-4628 or Crime Stoppers of Central Indiana at 1-317-262-TIPS.

Indiana State Police released a picture of a suspect in the Delphi murders, which was taken by Libby on her cellphone. She also captured a man's voice saying "down the hill" during what police call "criminal activity." You can listen to that recording and see the photo below.
