GREENSBURG, Ind. - Preventing child abuse was the focus of a vigil held in Greensburg Saturday evening.
The Devin Lee Parsons Child Abuse Domestic Violence Foundation held the event at North Park.
12-year-old Devin Parsons was beaten to death by his mother and her boyfriend in June of 2011.
Organizers said the vigil is a way to educate the general public about the dangers of child abuse, including how to spot it and how to keep young people safe.
“It’s not just about child abuse, but what can we do to just help a frustrated parent, or you know, to provide support around families and children so that it doesn’t ever reach a point that, regardless of death, where it never reaches a point of child maltreatment in any form,” said Sandy Runkle with Prevent Child Abuse Indiana.
April is National Child Abuse Prevention Month.
