INDIANAPOLIS – The Capitol Improvement Board said at a news conference Friday Lucas Oil Stadium is safe for events with the roof closed.
Three people were injured when a bolt fell from the stadium’s roof two weeks ago when it was opening during halftime of the Colts final preseason game.

According to Barney Levengood with the Capitol Improvement Board, the bolt was broken and appeared to be sheared. The bolt fell in three pieces roughly 200 feet. It was the size of a roll of quarters. They are still investigating how it became loose and fell, but the problem has been fixed.

Following an investigation of the stadium, seven other bolts were found to be loose, all in the same isolated area as the bolt that fell.
There is no timeline for when the roof will be open.
