INDIANAPOLIS – If you're one of the people out in the Circle City who are not happy with the locations of BlueIndy's electric-car charging stations, now is your time to speak up and push for change.

Indianapolis city leaders are considering moving current and future stations based off of feedback from residents and businesses.

BlueIndy currently has 69 stations for recharging vehicles. The ultimate goal is to get 200 set up.

But criticism rose when the stations took up premium parking spots on busy streets like Mass Ave., Broad Ripple Avenue and Fountain Square.

But if you claim a BlueIndy location is impacting you or your business, you’ll have to prove it first.

“There’s a burden test. You have to show it’s going to be problematic for you,” City-County Councilor Zach Adamson said. “And if you show that, then they’ll be moved to another area. That process should have been done in the first place, but didn’t – and all we’re doing is making that process retroactive.”

Some stations along Mass Ave. and other high-traffic areas could be moved to side streets instead.

If you know of a charging station you believe should be moved, you’re urged to reach out to the Indianapolis City-County Council. Just head here to get information on your councilor.
