Clerk offers Valentine's Day weddings for donations (and other V-Day events, bargains and specials)

INDIANAPOLIS - Along with other specials and happenings, a clerk will continue her annual Valentine's Day tradition of officiating weddings for amorous Hoosiers - all for donations benefiting the heart, which is quite befitting for this particular holiday.

Marion County Clerk Beth White officiates weddings every Feb. 14 to raise money for the American Heart Association.

Couples can visit the the clerk's office from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday to get a simple civil ceremony or vow renewal. Instead of paying an officiant's fee, couples are asked to give a donation of $50 to the American Heart Association's "Go Red For Women" campaign.

The clerk's office said space is limited and reservations are encouraged. Couples can make reservations by calling 317-327-4739 or heading to the clerk's office's website.

Couples must present a valid marriage license, which costs $18 for Marion County residents. Find the marriage license application here.
