INDIANAPOLIS -- Presumptive GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump was so unsure about choosing Indiana Governor Mike Pence as his running mate that he tried to get out of the choice at the 11th hour, according to CNN.

CNN's Dana Bash reports that Trump asked his top aides if he could get out of the pick around midnight Friday.

Bash tweeted out the report Friday afternoon, a few hours after the dust had settled on Trump's official announcement, which came via Twitter instead of an originally planned news conference.

On Thursday night, Trump postponed his original Vice Presidential announcement scheduled for Friday at 11 a.m., citing the terror attacks in Nice, France.

By that time, Pence had already left Indianapolis for Manhattan on a private plane, and multiple news outlets had gotten a hold of the leaked information that Pence was going to be Trump's choice.

Trump also made comments Thursday night on Fox News, telling them that he had not made a "final, final decision" on his running mate.

NBC News Capitol Hill correspondent Kelly O'Donnell backed up Bash's scoop with a report from sources of her own.

Trump's campaign communication advisor tweeted back at Bash, saying that the report wasn't true.
