INDIANAPOLIS - College football fans are gearing up for the Circle City Classic Weekend in downtown Indianapolis.
Thousands of fans from across the county will pack downtown Indy on Saturday to see South Carolina State University and North Carolina Central University take to the field at Lucas Oil Stadium.
In addition to the game, the weekend festivities include a college fair, a parade, tailgating, concerts, comedy shows and parties.
The event is sponsored by the Indiana Black Expo and the Indiana Sports Corporation. Event organizers said they expect 175,000 to 225,000 people in downtown Indy this weekend, which is good news for the city's economy.
"People are coming from central Indiana. Some are coming from all stretches of the country. Some are coming from California. We get calls from Texas and a person in Arizona bought 52 tickets. We are getting fans from all over the nation," said IBE spokesman Vernon Williams.
Tickets are still available for the event, officials said.
