COLUMBUS, Ind. - Police discovered more than $10,000 worth of marijuana growing in a Columbus home, investigators said.

An anonymous tip led officers to a home at 7262 E. 250 North, where they found an indoor growing operating with 48 plants, police said.

Steven Piper, 52, was arrested on a preliminary charge of dealing marijuana.

The estimated street value of the marijuana plants is $10,000, police said.

"Every tip that comes into our police department is investigated.  Some tips become lengthy investigations, while others result in a quick arrest," Columbus Police Chief Jason Maddix said in a news release. "We continually encourage citizens to report suspicious activity and partner with us to keep our city safe."
