INDIANAPOLIS - A man whose body was found in the White River on Tuesday is the man who police looked for last month after he jumped into Fall Creek after an argument with his girlfriend, officials said Wednesday.

Robert Stiger, 36, had been missing since the Fall Creek incident on Jan. 17.

The Marion County Coroner's Office said the cause of Stiger's death was drowning.

A construction worker noticed the body on the east side of White River at 10th Street, across from the VA Medical Center, just after 1 p.m. Tuesday.

Investigators said Tuesday that the clothing found on the body matched the description of clothing Stiger was wearing in January.

The water's current was swift, and crews were not successful in finding any signs of Stiger immediately after the jump.
