Coroner: Elderly farmer found dead in home died of gunshot wounds

An elderly farmer in southwestern Indiana was shot to death in his home over the weekend, the Sullivan County Coroner confirmed.

Sullivan County Sheriff's officers was called to the 10000 block of West County Road 350 North in Merom after a man discovered his father's body on the floor inside a bedroom in the home Saturday.

Indiana State Police identified the victim as 85-year-old Lowell Badger. Investigators said the victim's son was making a routine visit when he found his father's body.

Detectives said electronics and other items were missing from Badger's home.

Several persons of interest have been questioned, but no arrests have been made, police said.

ISP asked anyone with information about suspicious activity in the area of the investigation to call the Putnamville Post at 765-653-4114.
