INDIANAPOLIS - The City-County Council voted to stop rezoning action Monday night, preventing a Jehovah's Witness church from moving into College Park.

Earlier this year, the Metropolitan Development Commission approved six acres of land for rezoning from residential to special use, but the council's 19-8 vote overrides the commission's decision.

The council needed 18 votes to override the rezoning.

College Park residents packed a community meeting early in November to voice their opposition to the church moving in.

Residents voiced concerns about traffic and congestion that would disrupt the neighborhood's current calm and quiet.
