BARTHOLOMEW COUNTY, Ind. - A man was killed while walking on Interstate 65 early Monday morning, police said.
Bartholomew County officers said Paul McGuire, 42, of Indianapolis, was hit by a tractor-trailer about 2:30 a.m. near the Columbus exit on I-65.
Police said about an hour before the crash, Columbus officers responded to a report of a person walking on the interstate near the 64 mile marker, where they found McGuire. Police drove McGuire to a business where he could make arrangements to get a ride, officials said.
The driver of the semi said he saw McGuire in the road before the crash, but he could not avoid hitting him.
All lanes of Interstate 65 North near Columbus were closed for about 2 1/2 hours.
