INDIANAPOLIS - The Wayne Township Fire Department assisted the Pike Township Fire Department with an apartment fire with entrapment on the city's northwest side.

Crews worked on the two-alarm fire in the 6400 block of Stockport Road at the Scarborough Lake Apartments.

One person had to be rescued from a balcony, but no injuries were reported.

Another woman came home and realized her dogs were in the burning building, but firefighters were able to rescue the dogs.

Fire officials kept people out of the evacuated apartments while they investigated.

They said serious damage was limited to three or four apartments.

Apartment managers opened the warm complex to accommodate the displaced residents.
