CARMEL, Ind. - Crews battled a large fire that spread to a field on the west side of Carmel on Thursday evening.
The fire was reported at a home near the Village of West Clay, off Hoover Road, just after 5 p.m. Officials with the Carmel Fire Department said the fire started in a utility barn and then spread to a nearby home.
The fire could be seen from as far away as Carmel City Center. Crews from Zionsville were called in to help fight the flames.

Officials said the neighborhood residents were never in danger and there were no reports of injuries to firefighters or civilians.
Officials said the structures were both part of a community property maintenance facility and neither had anyone living in them.
There was no word on what sparked the flames.
