FRANKFORT, Ind. - Dozens of firefighters battled a stubborn fire that sparked at a recycling company in Clinton County Tuesday afternoon.
About 1 p.m., dispatchers sent crews to the Sonoco Molded Plastic facility in the 100 block of South County Road 200 West in Frankfort.
Wooden pallets stacked behind the building were reportedly on fire and dispatchers said high winds helped to fan the flames.
Residents were told to shelter in place due to the heavy smoke, and the Frankfort School Corporation said it was making arrangements for early dismissal of Suncrest Elementary students.
Four other agencies assisted Frankfort Fire Department crews. No injuries were immediately reported.
The cause of the fire was under investigation.
