Kokomo police looking for man suspected of beating, raping woman

KOKOMO, Ind. -- Kokomo police are looking for a man they believe battered, tied up and raped a woman Monday night.

Officers were called to a residence in the 500 block of West Park Avenue Tuesday morning on a report of a woman with an unknown medical problem.

They arrived to find a victim who said she had been battered and raped by a man she identified as Gary F. Perkins. According to the woman, Perkins struck her in the head and knocked her unconscious.

When she came to, the woman said Perkins strangled her until she lost consciousness again.

She told police Perkins then confined her in a bed and raped her.

The woman was able to free herself approximately 12 hours later after Perkins had left.

Police said Perkins is believed to be driving a blue 2003 Chrysler Town and Country minivan with Indiana license plate 644TJZ. He should be considered armed and dangerous, according to police.
