Loaded gun found in Arlington High School student's locker

INDIANAPOLIS -- Indianapolis Public Schools police say they found a 17-year-old Arlington High School student in possession of a loaded gun on campus Wednesday morning.

According to IPS Media Relations Coordinator Carrie Cline Black, the gun was discovered before noon in the student’s locker during a routine search.

The gun was loaded, but Black said no students were around at the time it was discovered.

IPS released the following statement to RTV6 about the incident:

“On Wednesday morning, October 25, Indianapolis Public Schools police officers located a loaded weapon in a student’s locker during a routine search at Arlington High School. This unfortunate incident was isolated and no students were around when the weapon was discovered. Staff will continue to keep the safety of all students at the forefront of their educational experience.”

Black said she was unable to discuss any details about student punishment in the case.
