INDIANAPOLIS – A Muncie man, who was arrested along with 16 others in a string of illegal activity last week, is accused of using a Castleton Mall shoe store to deal drugs.

According to an Affidavit for Probable Cause, Danny Terry, 33, collected thousands of dollars in cash in exchange for heroin at Circle City Sole shoe store inside the mall.

In July, Terry collected $2,500 from an informant working with police for heroin and in early August, the informant was told to pick up the drugs at the shoe store, according to the court document. The informant also said others, whom were part of the 16 arrested, were waiting to pick up heroin from Terry at the store.

In another deal, Terry collected more than $50,000 in cash at the store, but at the time drugs weren't distributed, stated the probable cause document.

On August 31, the police informant met Terry at the shoe store and paid $2,500 for 40 grams of heroin, the document found.

In a conversation captured through a recording device by police detectives, Anton Holland – owner of Circle City Sole – told Terry the store profited $200,000 last year, but he filed it as a “loss.”

Police said “dealers will attempt to simulate inventory, sales, and expenses, in order to pay a minimum amount of taxes but allow money to appear as proceeds from a legitimate business” in the probable cause.

Indiana State Police and Muncie Police Narcotics Unit searched the shoe store, with a warrant, and found 102 grams of heroin inside a display case.

Last week, Terry was also accused of selling marijuana to former Muncie Police Deputy Jerry Parks, who was arrested at his home.

A Simon Spokesperson released a statement:

"Simon prides itself on maintaining a family-friendly environment at our properties. The allegations regarding this former tenant are shocking.  The store's lease has been terminated, and we are cooperating with law enforcement authorities on the investigation."
