INDIANAPOLIS – A SWAT situation on the city’s east side ended peacefully after a suspect surrendered to police.

Indianapolis police said the incident happened in the 4500 block of Pleasant Run Parkway when Johnson and Marion county deputies arrived at an apartment complex to serve a search warrant for a man who violated probation.

Deputies said when they approached the apartment, they heard a gun racking, which police believed was someone loading a bullet into a chamber. Police called in IMPD SWAT for assistance.

After hours passed and the suspect would not negotiate with police, officers launched gas into the apartment, which caused him to surrender.

Two people were arrested, and no police were injured, according to officers.
