INDIANAPOLIS -- Three alleged members of the “Grundy Crew” gang were arrested Friday by officers from the U.S. Marshal’s Service.

Richard Grundy III, David Carroll and Lance Lamont Hatcher were arrested on undisclosed charges as part of a series of sweeps by federal agents across Marion County on Friday.

Grundy was at the center of a drug and murder case filed in October 2015 that ultimately fell apart due to problems with witness testimony and evidentiary issues. All of the murder charges against Grundy and 10 other associates – including Carroll – were dropped.

Hatcher was charged along with Grundy and two other men – William Alonzo Gammon III and Ronnie Lee Batts Jr. – with conspiracy to commit murder and dealing in cocaine in connection to a February 2015 case. Those murder charges were also dropped.

Gammon is currently in custody on unrelated charges from September of resisting law enforcement.

All but one of the 11 defendants in the October 2015 case have reached plea deals with the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office or had all charges dropped. In August, Grundy pleaded guilty to one count of dealing marijuana and was sentenced to time served plus two years of non-reporting probation.

Below, Richard Grundy III talks to RTV6 outside the courtroom after entering a guilty plea:

Grundy's attorney in the October 2015 case, Keirian Brown, told RTV6 he hasn't spoken to his client since the plea was entered in August.

"It was my understanding that he was leaving the state," Brown said. "That was my advice."

Another Grundy associate, Victor Tinnin-Wells is currently behind held at the Marion County Jail on charges of possession and dealing in cocaine, dealing in a narcotic drug and unlawful possession of a firearm by a serious violent felon in connection with an unrelated case from July.

His attorney, Jack Crawford, said he hadn't been notified about Tinnin-Wells being involved in Friday's sweeps. Jail records did not show a U.S. Marshals detainer for Tinnin-Wells.

As of Friday afternoon, the charges against Grundy, Carroll and Hatcher were still sealed, and officials declined to comment on whether other arrests were expected in the case.
