BOSWELL, Ind. -- A Warren County resident opened fire Tuesday on two men who broke into his home and attacked him with a bat.

Warren County sheriff’s deputies were called to a home in the 1900 block of West 1050 North near Boswell, Indiana, around 3:30 a.m. Tuesday on a report of a home invasion.

They arrived to find the home’s owner, William Kellerhals, suffering from minor bumps and bruises from an apparent baseball bat attack.

Kellerhals told police two suspects kicked in his door and entered his home without permission.

One of the men allegedly struck Kellerhals with a bat before the homeowner was able to retrieve a gun and fire shots at the fleeing suspects.

Police said nothing was taken from the home and Kellerhals received only minor injuries.

Both men were described as white males standing between 5’10” – 6’0” with slender builds.

Anyone with information about the case is asked to contact Indiana State Police at 765.567-2125 and ask for Trooper Corey Dupuy or Master Trooper Detective Tim Kendall.
