INDIANAPOLIS -- A woman was injured Friday night in a hit-and-run on Indianapolis' southeast side.
Officers with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department were called to the intersection of Thompson Road and Lakesedge Boulevard at around 11 p.m. Friday.
Police found 48-year-old Lisa French Dillingham. She was taken to Eskenazi Hospital in critical condition.
Investigators believe the woman was crossing the entrance to the Spring Lake subdivision when a vehicle turned north onto Lakesedge Boulevard and hit her. One of the people who found her said the woman's phone was ringing. When they answered it, the woman's mother was on the other line.
"Me and some of the neighbors huddled up and prayed for the individual," said neighbor Tony Cloud. "It was just such a sad thing to see somebody laying in the middle of the street and apparently somebody hit the individual and just drove away and left them there - it's just horrible."
The suspect fled the scene without stopping to call for help.
