INDIANAPOLIS - Mayor Greg Ballard has named a new administrator at Indianapolis Animal Care and Control.
Daniel T. Shackle, an attorney who works as the program manager of the Nuisance Abatement section of the Department of Code Enforcement, will take over the post Monday.
"Dan is a get-things-done kind of leader and passionate about animals," Ballard said in a news release. "Dan's work leading the city's training, inspection and enforcement teams during Super Bowl 46 demonstrates his ability to problem solve and continue the improvements already underway at Animal Care and Control."
Shackle takes the top spot after Amber Myers, who was appointed in November 2011, resigned last month to move to Spokane, Wash., with her fiance, Frank Straub, former Indianapolis Public Safety Director.
Shackle, a U.S. Army veteran, began working for the city in 2010 after working for the Indiana Department of Revenue and private practice in Kansas City, Mo.
He earned his undergraduate degree from Indiana University and his law degree from the Oklahoma City School of Law.
Shackle and wife, Amy, are the proud owners of a Maltese named Leila, the release noted.
