Editor's note: This story has been updated with the correct date of the home invasion.
Wednesday was Amanda Blackburn's due date.
Blackburn, and her unborn child, were killed during a home break-in on Nov. 10, 2015. On the day that her child was to be born, May 18, her husband Davey wrote a touching message about being a father.
In an Instagram post, Davey wrote:
Today I would have been a dad of two. Today was Evie Grace's due date. Although I never met her I loved her more than I ever thought I could love a little one.
Davey has been taking care of their first child, Weston, since Amanda's death.
In the post, Davey said he reads a note from Amanda for inspiration about being a good father.
He said in April that he's decided to forgive the men who killed his wife.
"What I realized is that forgiveness is a decision. And it's not just a one-time decision. It's a daily decision. I have to wake up and I have to decide to forgive. And here's why I decided to decide to forgive. It's because bitterness and unforgiveness is going to be a cancer to no one else except for me. And it's going to eat me up inside if I hold on to that."
