DELPHI, Ind. (AP) -- The investigation into the killing of two teenage girls in Delphi has led to 13 arrests, but state police say that none of them are linked to those deaths.

Liberty German, 14, and Abigail Williams, 13, went missing on Feb. 13 while hiking near the Monon High Bridge. Their bodies were found the next day in a wooded area less than a mile away.

State Police Sgt. Kim Riley tells WLFI-TV those arrests were based on pending warrants all unrelated to the teens’ murders.

Police have questioned more than 300 people in the killings based on over 13,000 tips from the public.

Riley says some people questioned by investigators haven't been truthful because they have criminal records.

That's forced police to devote time to clearing them as potential suspects in the killings.

Police are still determined to identify the person captured in a photograph on Liberty's cell phone the day she died. She also captured a man's voice saying "down the hill".

You can listen to that recording and see the photo below.

It's been a constant struggle for police to keep rumors from spreading as the community tries to help solve the case. Police say they have not made any arrests in connection with the deaths of the Abby and Libby.
