KOKOMO, Ind. -- Thousands of people have been offered temporary housing and emergency supplies after tornadoes ripped through Howard County Wednesday, but they are being forced to leave loved ones behind - their pets.

As pets are not allowed in emergency relief shelters, another resource has been deployed to the Kokomo area.

To help these cats, dogs and other animals feel at home again, the Madison County AKC Pet Disaster Relief trailer has set up a pet shelter beside the Red Cross at the Kokomo Event & Conference Center.
