INDIANAPOLIS - Thousands are expected to pack Fort Harrison State Park this weekend for the Hoosier Outdoor Experience.
Organizers said the event gives Hoosiers a chance to experience all Indiana-themed activities in one day.
The event offers fishing, rock climbing, bike riding, archery, horseback riding, as well as off-road Jeep rides.
Bourke Patton with the Indiana Department of Natural Resources said there will be more than 50 activities available for park visitors, free of charge.
“You can experience everything that’s available across the state of Indiana in one day at Fort Harrison State Park,” Patton said.
DNR officials said there are events for park visitors of all ages.
“A 5-year-old may not be able to go horseback riding, but they can go on a pony ride. They may not be able to use a fishing pole, but they can use a cane pole. We’ve tried to make all the activities available to all ages,” Patton said.
DNR urged park visitors to sign-up for the Hoosier Outdoor Experience online before coming to park.
