FRANKLIN, Ind. -- It's the silver lining to a heartbreaking story: The dog who survived when her owner died in an early morning crash.
Rescuers say the dog never barked or yelped. She just sat trapped in wreckage for almost six hours until firefighters finally came to her rescue.
Tyrone McKenney, 52, of Quinby, South Carolina, was killed Wednesday morning when his semi-truck ran off I-65 in Johnson County and burst into flames.

Inside the cab of the truck, though, was McKenney's dog – still alive.
"In a little bitty hole … just there, waiting," one of the rescuers said. "Despite what she went through, I think she was wanting to stay there because that was home for her."

Vets at the Franklin Animal Clinic cleaned the pup up and made sure she wasn't suffering from anything life-threatening.
The dog was being fostered by a firefighter at the station that rescued her until she could be reunited with McKenney's family.
