UPDATE: Ox was adopted, less than two hours after the original post.

ORIGINAL STORY BELOW:

NOBLESVILLE, Ind. -- There are thousands of dogs who are in need of adoption, for thousands of different reasons.

But one dog's story shared Monday by the Humane Society for Hamilton County is especially heart breaking.

This is the story of Ox, a 14-year-old dog who was recently surrendered by his owner because their new significant other is allergic.

Ox spent his whole life with that owner, and as the picture in the post shared on the Humane Society's Facebook page shows, he is now confused and hopeless.

The Humane Society was particularly moved by Ox's situation, and while they acknowledge that, in part, this is why they are here, this one made them shake their heads. But they are hopeful to find his "forever home", no matter how long that is, so that Ox finds love again.

You can read the original post below, and share it, because at 14, all this dog wants is a comfortable place to lay his head.

We understand that people surrender pets to us for various reasons, and that's what we're here for. But all we can do...
