DPW: Snow plows out in full force Monday

Drivers advised to slow down

INDIANAPOLIS - The Department of Public Works dispatched more than 90 trucks throughout Indianapolis early Monday to prepare slick roads for continued light snow expected during the day in central Indiana.

The roads were so slick, one snow plow got stuck in a ditch near Epler and Mann roads on the city's southwest side. No injuries were reported.

DPW Spokeswoman Stephanie Sample said that the main roads were clear, but the secondary roads would be a little slushy for early commuters.

Drivers were advised to plan for delays and slower drive times through Monday's rush hour.

Monday's snow also delayed regularly scheduled trash pick-up. Sample said service would be on a sliding one-day scale, similar to holiday trash schedules.
