INDIANAPOLIS - Dr. Eugene G. White, former superintendent of Indianapolis Public Schools, was named interim president of Martin University, officials announced Wednesday.
White succeeds Dr. George Miller, who announced his resignation at Martin on August 16. Miller will leave Indianapolis shortly to assume another education position in the south.
“We are very fortunate that a person with Dr. White’s credentials can be available on short notice to assume the key leadership role at Martin. He brings many years of excellent educational experience to the post, including responsibility for the state’s largest K-12 system for seven years," the Board of Trustees said.
White retired from IPS in April. He begins his new position at Martin University immediately.
