INDIANAPOLIS - In the first week of Daylight Saving Time, drivers, parents and children are urged to use extra caution during the early morning commute to work and school.

The extra caution comes after Columbus Middle School Student Jalen Lee, 13, was hit about 7 a.m. Monday.  Police said they think the driver might not have seen Lee walking because it was so dark outside.

Lee remains at Riley Hospital for Children in critical condition, and the driver was not cited for any violations, police said.

School officials are advising parents to wait with their children at the bus stop during the dark morning hours, and to also dress children in light-colored clothing.

Drivers are advised to watch out for children who may dart out into traffic to prevent further accidents.
