INDIANAPOLIS -- Officials were trying to figure out this week how to retrieve a drone that crash-landed on top of the Indiana War Memorial.

Retired Air Force General J. Stewart Goodman says someone crashed the drone on the roof of the building a few weekends ago. He became aware of it after they asked if they could retrieve it.

But, there's no public access to the roof of the building.

Goodwin says he didn't think it was anything more than an accident, but he said it could have caused damage to some components of the roof and says the pilots of such drones need to keep them away from public monuments.

The pilot wasn't breaking the law, but the FAA does have restrictions on drones. They can't fly higher than 400 feet, or operate near an airport or crowded stadiums.
