MARION, Ind. - An Eastbrook High School teacher’s aide was arrested after authorities said he had an inappropriate relationship with a student.
Grant County Sheriff’s deputies arrested Ethan Gressley, 21, on Tuesday on a charge of sexual misconduct with a minor.
Gressley, an Ivy Tech Community College student, said on his Facebook page that he works as a life science aide at Eastbrook High School.
Sheriff’s deputies held Gressley after police said he turned himself in.
“I’m appalled, we have to do something about this, we all know as a society you can’t do that with students,” parent Chuck King said. “When you’re 21 years old, you have to know better and we all know when you’re younger, your hormones go up and down, but you have to be able to control yourself.”
Officials with Eastbrook Community Schools confirmed to RTV6 that Gressley was an employee.
According to his Facebook page, Gressley, a former Eastbrook High School basketball player, graduated in 2010.
“Well you even hear of teachers having relationships with students, so putting a 21-year-old who really isn’t that much older, it would probably be better if they help with a larger gap,” parent Rachael Singer said.
Late Tuesday evening, Gressley posted a bond of more than $20,000.
