CRAWFORDSVILLE, Ind. -- Wednesday's tornado outbreak started with an EF2 tornado just south of Crawfordsville.

The tornado, which the NWS preliminarily labeled an EF2 capable of winds of up to 111 miles per hour, was first reported on the ground around 2:55 p.m. A second report of the tornado was given by state police around 2:59 p.m. in New Ross, east of Crawfordsville.

According to emergency responders, 30 homes have been damaged in Montgomery County as a result of this tornado and the storms that spawned it.

Four silos were destroyed in the storms.

The system that produced this first tornado storm cell went on to produce at least seven other tornadoes on the ground across central Indiana over the next six hours, including a massive EF3 tornado in Kokomo, and a tornado that touched down in the Indianapolis-area.
