ELWOOD, Ind. - The head girls basketball coach at Elwood Community High School has been arrested on charges he had an inappropriate relationship with a 17-year-old player.
Thomas Kessinger, 29, turned himself in to police Tuesday evening on preliminary charges of child seduction and official misconduct, both felonies, said Elwood Police Chief Sam Hanna.
The investigation began after the Indiana Department of Child Services notified police and Elwood school officials about a complaint concerning an inappropriate relationship between Kessinger and a player.
Police investigated the complaint, and an arrest warrant was issued.
Kessinger, who is also an instructor at the Elwood Alternative School, has been suspended without pay.
Possible termination will be considered at Thursday's board meeting.
