DELPHI, Ind. -- The murders of Liberty German and Abigail Williams have drawn national attention to the small town of Delphi and the families of the two girls.

Liberty’s grandmother says they have received hundreds of letters from across the country and around the world.

Letters of support and love – some with cash or other gifts – are still showing up, nearly three months into the investigation.

The letters fill boxes inside the home of Libby's grandparent's, Mike and Becky Patty. They offer a source of comfort at the end of the day.

“You get to set down and unwind and read these, and take support from them,” said Becky.

There are letters from Florida…

“Sent with loving memories of your little girl. Our hearts go out to you in your time of sorrow. We have children and know how hard this would be if it were our child.” – From Fort Myers, Florida

… and from as far away as Australia and the Netherlands.

“We get well wishes from England a lot,” said Becky.

… and from Libby’s classmates.

“Libby was always so smiley and happy.”

“You are a very good swimmer and I won’t forget that”

“Miss you”

“Libby was on the swim team and she always talked to me and she was so sweet and nice. Knowing she is gone is really hard and I miss her so much.”

“This is the kind of stuff that we’ve been bombarded with,” said Becky. “It’s affected a lot of kids, not just at our school, but a lot of kids all around.”

The Pattys say they’ve received so many letters over the past couple of months that they haven’t even had time to go through them all, but they’re thankful for each and every letter or note that comes through their door.

“They think we’re this special,” said Becky. “That we deserve this.”
