ELKHART, Ind. - A family marked eight months since the killing of a 7-year-old girl with hopes that someone will soon be held accountable.
Kristyana Jackson was shot in the head in front of her home on Kilbourn Street in Elkhart in August 2012.
Jackson's parents said they won't rest until the person who killed their daughter is caught.
Police have been persistently working on the case, but there have been no breakthroughs.
"It's just frustrating that no one has been arrested yet," said Kimmie Jackson, Kristyana's mother, in an interview with ABC57 in South Bend. "There is not a day that at least two tears aren't shed for her."
Kristyana would have turned 8 at the end of this month. Her mother said she believes the girl's killer will be found soon.
"I just feel like this month will be the month, since this is her birthday," she said.
A $6,000 reward has been made available to anyone who provides information that leads to an arrest.
