INDIANAPOLIS - The family of a couple killed in an explosion on Indianapolis' south side is thanking first responders, friends and the community for their support.
John "Dion" Longworth, who worked at Indy Audio Labs, and Jennifer Longworth, a second-grade teacher at Greenwood's Southwest Elementary School, lived next to the home that exploded in the Richmond Hill subdivision Saturday night.

"The family of Dion and Jennifer Longworth would like to thank the firefighters, police and other officials; (Greenwood Schools Superintendent) Dr. Edds, (Southwest Elementary School) Principal (Beth) Guilfoy and the Greenwood schools family; Indy Audio Labs; our church communities; friends, neighbors and the community for all the support and love for our families during this difficult time," read a statement released Friday, the first from the family.
A funeral for the couple will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Barnabas Catholic Church at 8300 Rahke Road. Calling will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday at Wilson-St Pierre Funeral Home in Greenwood.
Greenwood Schools have canceled classes Monday at Southwest Elementary School so staff members and students can attend the funeral.
