MARTINSVILLE, Ind. - State Road 37 reopened hours after a fatal accident just south of Waverly Sunday evening, officials said.
An official with Indiana State Police said Helen Sutton, 94, of Greenwood, was heading eastbound on Big Bend Road just before 7:30 p.m.
Sutton failed to yield to a vehicle traveling southbound on SR 37 and the vehicles collided, police said.
Officials said the impact of the crash sent Sutton's vehicle into the northbound lanes of SR 37.
Sutton was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
Authorities said the driver of the other car, Caitlyn Hinshaw, 21, of Middletown, and her passengers were transported via ambulance to Indianapolis for treatment regarding complaints of pain.
SR 37 was restricted for more than two hours after the crash.
