NOBLESVILLE, Ind. - A large fire engulfed a home near state roads 32 and 38 in Noblesville early Wednesday, dispatchers said.
The blaze was reported just before 6 a.m. in the 200 block of Stony Lane. Because of the size of the fire, Noblesville Fire Department crews said they were unable to tackle the flames from inside the home.
Crews worked for more than an hour to try and douse the flames, but eventually decided to let the fire burn out on its own.
Firefighters told RTV6 reporter Julie Pursley that a neighbor called 911 after seeing trees burning near the home. Another resident in the area said he heard an explosion before firefighters arrived.
Investigators said the family who lived in the home lost power earlier in the week during the snow storm. They were not in the home at the time and no injuries were reported.
The cause of the fire remained under investigation.
