LOWELL, Ind. - A car crash near Lowell Thursday resulted in burns and broken bones for a Delphi man.
State police said Lukus Hunt, 20, of Delphi, was driving northbound on I-65 at the 238 mile marker near Lowell Thursday afternoon when he fell asleep at the wheel. The car, an Oldsmobile Bravada, went off the road to the left, striking a guard rail and then a concrete bridge abutment. The car then flipped onto its passenger side and caught fire.
A passenger in the vehicle, Thomas Storey, 22, of West Lafayette, was able to get himself out of the vehicle. Hunt was removed by witnesses who stopped at the scene of the crash.
Both men were taken to Saint Anthony's Hospital in Crown Point. Hunt sustained broken bones and minor burns. Storey complained of body pain.
