BOONE COUNTY, Ind. - A woman was hospitalized Wednesday morning after a fiery, wrong-way crash involving a tractor-trailer and a car on Interstate 74 in Boone County, dispatchers said.
The crash was reported just after 3 a.m. in the westbound lanes of I-74 near mile marker 51 when the semi and the car collided, causing the semi to burst into flames.
Police said the woman in the car, identified as 20-year-old Maggie Tinsley of Greenwood, was driving eastbound in the westbound lanes of I-74 moments before the crash.
She was rushed to Methodist Hospital with unknown injuries, police said.
The driver of the truck was not injured.
The westbound lanes of I-74 were closed for several hours as crews worked to clear the scene. One lane opened to traffic just before 8 a.m. Drivers were advised to plan for alternate routes and expect delays.
