Fight at party in Chalmers leads to multiple stabbings

CHALMERS, Ind. - Chalmers police said five people were injured Saturday night after a fight broke out at a party.
Police responded to a report of two people stabbed just before 11:30 p.m. Saturday on the 1100 block of South 22nd Street.
When they arrived, officers said they discovered a party at the home. Witnesses state that a verbal argument had erupted between several people playing a yard game.
That argument then escalated into a physical altercation, during which several people were stabbed.
Christopher L. Walker, 31 of Chalmers; Roy E. Beatty, 34 of Lafayette; Keith D. Moon, 26 of Lafayette; and Michael Levi Reed, 35, of Lafayette, were taken to the hospital for treatment. Daniel M. Kelly, 25 of Lafayette, refused treatment at the scene.
Police identified a person of interest in the incident who was questioned and later released.
The case is being investigated by the White County Sheriff's Department and Indiana State Police.
