INDIANAPOLIS -- Fall is finally here, and that means cooler weather, sweaters and fall foods.

To celebrate the new season, we've put together a list of the best -- the very best -- fall foods, and local places to find them.

It's hard to beat a good bowl of stew when the weather is cold. It warms you up inside and out. Check out John's Famous Stew at 1146 Kentucky Ave. This local restaurant has been around seemingly forever, and offers stew in mild, medium and hot varieties.

It's easy to find mac and cheese, but THIS mac and cheese? Fire By The Monon at 6523 Ferguson Street takes Monterey Jack and white cheddar cheese and adds pulled pork and hot sauce.

Looking for a good mug of hot chocolate? Try the South Bend Chocolate Company at 30 Monument Circle. Chocolate isn't for you? The restaurant also has spiced apple cider and fall-themed pies and cheesecakes.

You wouldn't think it, but the sweet potato tots at Punch Burger at 137 E. Ohio St. are very well regarded. Plus, don't sweet potatoes and fall just seem to go together?

Looking for something that'll stick to your ribs this season? Try the pot roast at Big Daddy's Bar and Grill at 2536 S. Meridian St. The thing is, they'll ask you how you want it - whether that's in the form of nachos, a Quesadilla, a burger or a lunchtime manhattan.

If you have a sweet tooth, try the cobbler at The Legend Classic Irvington Cafe at 5614 E Washington St. It has a different cobbler every evening for dinner, like peach, blueberry, apple or mixed berry.

Or try some baked goods at Taylor's Bakery at 6216 Allisonville Road. The local bakery has pumpkin spice donuts (something people wait all year for), apple dumplings and pumpkin rolls.
