A house fire in Lafayette claimed the lives of twin 3-year-old boys on Saturday.
Firefighters were called to a house on the 10700 block of Brandy Kay Court in Lafayette on Saturday. Initial reports were that two small children were still trapped inside the residence, according to officials.
Tippecanoe County Sheriff's deputies who arrived first on scene removed two twin boys, identified as 3-year-olds Landon Tyler Abbott and Liam Cecil Abbott, from the burning residence.
The children were taken to area hospitals, where they were pronounced dead.
A 31-year-old Lafayette woman who was also at the home at the time of the fire was airlifted to Eskenazi Hospital in Indianapolis with burns and smoke inhalation.
Fire officials said the children's father, 31-year-old Brandon L. Abbott, was home at the time of the fire.
The cause of the fire was still under investigation.
