Firefighter hurt battling house fire on Indianapolis' west side

Cause of fire under investigation

INDIANAPOLIS - A firefighter was hurt battling a house fire on the city's west side Friday.

Just before 9 a.m., Indianapolis Fire Department crews were called to a home in the 2500 block of North Harding Street on reports of a fire in the attic.

Eight people inside the home escaped unharmed, IFD officials said.

Firefighters worked over 30 minutes to gain control of the flames. One firefighter hurt his ankle and was taken to Methodist Hospital.

No smoke detectors were found in the home. The cause of the fire remained under investigation.
