Firefighters rescue man after 24 minutes trapped in car

INDIANAPOLIS - Indianapolis firefighters rescued a man trapped in his car Sunday morning after striking a utility pole.

IFD officials said Justin Majors was driving southbound on Senate Boulevard just before 3:30 a.m. when he lost control of his car for unknown reasons and struck a utility pole near 13th Street.

Firefighters worked to extricate Majors for 24 minutes before they were able to free him from his mangled vehicle.

Majors was transported to Methodist Hospital in serious condition.

It was not immediately apparent whether IMPD investigators suspected drug or alcohol involvement.
