NOBLESVILLE, Ind. -- Maxwell Winkler, the teen accused of killing an elderly man in Nov. 2014, was sentenced to 80 years in prison and five years probation Friday.

Winkler entered a guilty plea in January for the murder of Henry Kim, 73.

Kim's body was found on Nov. 1, 2014 at Windemere Park.

Kim had been shot several times and his throat was slashed. Winkler had a history of mental health issues.

While he was 17 when he killed Kim, Winkler was prosecuted as an adult.

After police arrested him, they say they found disturbing letters detailing how Winkler planned to kill someone.
